What Is a Pillar Page?
A piece of content that serves as the cornerstone for a topic cluster. It provides a broad overview of the core topic and links internally to articles that go in-depth about the subtopics. Also known as a hub page.
Pillar pages are a part of a search engine optimization strategy called content siloing where web pages are grouped around keyword-based themes and isolated from other topics. A pillar page (or hub page) focuses on the short-tail keyword (or main topic) and has multiple supporting pages that target the long-tail keywords (or subtopics). The supporting pages then link back to the hub page using keyword-optimized anchor text.
