What Is a Broad Match Keyword?
A broad match keyword is a match type offered by pay-per-click advertising platforms that gives the widest audience reach. Ads with broad match keywords can be displayed for the searches that contain the target keyword as well other terms and phrases relevant to the topic.
Broad match keywords are the default match type for Google Ads and no special syntax is required for ad campaigns to use the broad match type. With a broad match keyword phrase, ads may show on searches that are related to the keyword and not necessarily contain the keyword terms.
Broad match keyword targeting is also impacted by:
- The user’s recent search activities.
- The content of the landing page.
- Other keywords in the ad group that help clarify keyword intent.
