What Are Pageviews?
Pageviews are metric in Google Analytics that reports the total number of views a web page receives in a given time period. It is different from unique pageviews, which aggregate views that are generated by separate users during the same session.
The pageview metric registers a single pageview whenever a page is opened in a web browser. Refreshing a page also generates an additional pageview.
Pageviews in Google Analytics only show the total number of page views and don’t indicate the website’s number of visitors. Therefore, a single visitor can generate hundreds of pageviews for the same web page.
The main purpose of the pageviews metric is to provide a website owner with insight into user behavior and reveal which pages attract the most traffic for both unique and repeated views.
